Looking for ways to make dinner that are quick and easy and don't require another trip to the store? Here are 3 easy and kid-friendly recipes!
1) Chicken and noodles: Time to make: 15 minutes Need: Chicken, Prego, noodles, oil, flour/breadcrumbs.
Make spaghetti noodles, drain and set aside. You can warm these up by running under hot water for just a minute.
Cut chicken breasts in half lengthwise. Dredge (coat) the breast pieces with breadcrumbs. If you don't have these, use flour, but add some oregano or Italian spices to the flour first.
Heat olive oil (or canola) in a pan and add the chicken pieces. Cook for about 4 min on each side. Cut to be sure they are cooked through.
Warm noodles if needed, and place on large platter. Add chicken on top. Use Prego (or other canned sauce) to top off the dish. Sprinkle with parmesan and serve.
2) Chicken with Salsa. NOT SPICY! Time to make 20 minutes. Need: Chicken, Salsa (you pick the spice level), onion, green pepper, rice.
Chop onion and green pepper. Cut chicken into small, bite-sized pieces.
Heat pan over medium heat. Add onion, pepper, 1 cup salsa, 1 cup water, 1 cup minute rice and chicken.
Let simmer for about 10-15 minutes until water is absorbed and chicken is cooked.
3) Pasta. Yes, but add veggies and spices and make it taste like a new dish! Time: 20 minutes. Need: Hamburger meat or chicken, Veggies (whatever you have, onion, peppers, squash, tomatoes, etc), spices (Italian, oregano, basil), Prego/Ragu, Noodles.
Chop veggies and meat (if chicken).
Brown your meat in a pan and drain oil off.
Add, Prego, veggies and about ½ t - 1t of spices ( I love a little extra basil!).
Let simmer while noodles cook. If sauce gets too dry just add a little water.
Cook noodles, drain and serve with your new sauce!
Top with parsley leaves (dry is fine) or grated cheese.
